Authority over Nations

Play

The church has been given spiritual power in the Person of the Holy Spirit ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” We’ve been commissioned to be the witness of Christ worldwide. Jesus told us, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you,” — Matthew 28:19, 20. .– Mark 16:15– Revelation 2:26.

The Apostle Paul fought a good fight and finished the course, said: “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy minis¬try.” 6. “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.” 7. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith [remember the gem?” 8. “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day . . .” (2 Timothy 4:5-8).

His fight was exceedingly difficult; a little cruel for Satan is a very wicked and merciless opponent. He faced imprisonments and beatings; a shipwreck and in perils of robbers; false brethren and many hardships — 2 Corinthians 11:23-28. The Apostle Paul never backed down and fought the good fight of faith and emerged out of the other side victorious and glorious. Few men have made such a mark for God on the world.

Your Father the Devil

John 8:42, — “Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.”

Jesus is speaking to a group of people here who were separated from Him because they belonged to another god, and were not true Believers. He clearly shows these people are not being able to receive Him or His anointed because they were living under a different spirit and power, their “father the devil.” He clearly shows that they persecuted Him because there of the spiritual separation of the being under the influence of their god whom he names as “Ye are of your father the devil.”Jesus then sets forth the evil activities of the people who were imitators of their father the Devil. They worship this false god and copied his evil ways.

John 8:44-47, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”KJV

The next verse is very important for true believers to understand. Unbelievers that follow another god cannot understand or hear the Lord’s Word. They only understand the lies of their father. In John 8:43, “Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.”.[Why do ye not understand my speech?] Teen lalian teen emeen, This my mode of speaking-when illustrating spiritual by natural things: Lalia refers to the manner of speaking; logos, to the matter or subject on which he spoke. For lalian, the Codex Bezae had originally aleetheian: why do ye not acknowledge this TRUTH of mine? [Because ye cannot hear my word.] That is, ye cannot bear my doctrine: it comes too close to you; it searches your hearts, detects your hypocrisy, and exposes your iniquitous intentions and designs; and as ye are determined not to leave your sins, so ye are purposed not to hear my doctrine.

Sin Unspeakable Darkness in the Church

The Bible speaks clearly, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In All thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths,” (Prov. 3:5).

Recognizing the truth about oneself paves the way for freedom. Every Christian has a fleshly body and God is specific about how He feels about the behavior of the flesh in such scriptures as: (Gal. 5:17; Rom. 8:7,8; and Jude 23), which says: “. . . hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

Our own understanding is corrupt, selfish, self-centered and it doesn’t matter that we’ve been born again and Christ’s blood applied to our heart.

  • Our reasoning remains untrustworthy!
  • Our human understanding is suspicious, fearful.
  • Our understanding rises with anger, bitterness, fighting, abuse of family members, etc.
  • All impure thoughts, vile affections and desires which do not become overt actions are real acts of the inner man.

(Phil. 2:12), Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

David was a man of God who hated sin with everything in him.

  • “. . . . I hate every false way,” ( Psa. 119:104).
  • “Ye that love the Lord, hate evil . . . .” (Psa. 97:10).
  • Yet he committed adultery with Bathsheba and sent her husband to his death to battle!
  • Bathsheba “. . . mourned for her husband,” (2 Sam. 11:26).
  • David’s sin had “displeased the Lord,” (verse 27).
  • He seduced Bathsheba, planned her husband’s death, deceived her by acting as if he was doing the right thing (marrying her after he’d impregnated her).
  • Ten months after the affair, God sent Nathan the prophet to deal with David’s sin, (2 Sam. 12).
