Elimination of the Cross Part Two

Play
empty-cross

The Deity and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, separates the true Christian from all religious gods of the world. Apart from His cross, there is simply is no redemption for sin and people would eternally be separated from God.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.– Hebrews 9:22

The prophet Malachi prophesied of a supernatural purge coming to God’s house.

” . . . the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple… but who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? For He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s soap. And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.” (Malachi 3:1-3)

Demonic Oppression and Possession

Play

Demons want to and can possess people. It is apparent from Scripture that evil spirits want to possess bodies through which they can carry out their wicked activities.

Bible scholars have categorized two levels of demonic impact upon people:

  • Demonic oppression: mild to severe harassment by one or more evil spirits as a result of the opening of some of the gateways to satanic influence.
  • Demonic possession: The condition in which one or more evil spirits actually inhabit the body of a person, taking control of it at will and expressing his (or their) evil personality through the faculties of that human body.
  • Matthew 12:43-45, as quoted previously, is a classic description of demonic possession: note especially the phrase “they enter in and dwell there.”
  • Other Scriptures that describe such possession: Matthew 10:1: “And when (Jesus) had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out.”

Demons possessing the Gadarene demoniac of Mark 5 did not want to be disembodied. They begged to be allowed by Jesus to enter a herd of swine. Other activities that are characteristic of demons include:

The Deity and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, separates the true Christian from all religious gods of the world.

“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:17-24

There is a movement taking place that wishes to eliminate the symbol of the cross from churches and public view – and churches are removing their crosses! An interfaith group founded by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon is spearheading an effort to have Christian ministers remove crosses from their churches, calling them a symbol of oppression and perceived superiority. Mainstream Christian leaders call the request “outrageously bigoted.”
